School Dayz Part 10

Sick

by Phoenix and Death Angel

Wednesday

The five of them reported to Dorothy that morning. WuFei was briefed about what he was supposed to do and he set about to
accomplishing them. Heero and Duo had to stay behind with Dorothy along with the rest involved in the acting whereas Trowa and Quatre went to join the band. What came as a surprise to all was that Zechs was involved in the musical as well. It's been said that he was given the role of the bad guy and will be going against the main character, which happens to be Heero.

"We shall try the first scene. Heero Yuy, Zechs, .. , ..! Try reciting your lines without the script. Starting with you first, Heero."

Heero took a step up front and began. "Target speed's  01545. Auto lock. Take down descending obstructions. Earth's attack
shuttle...."

Dorothy was impressed by what she saw. Heero didn't even stop to flip open the script in his hand to read a line and he could
recite every single line accurately without making a mistake. Zechs had been right to recommend Heero for the main role.
Everyone marveled at Heero's ability to memorize his entire script in one night. Duo swallowed hard. He could only remember
a page of his script. Looking at Heero, Duo thought the face was familiar and tried recalling where he had once set eyes on it.

"This guy! He's the one who almost wanted to kill me for that bucket incident. If it weren't for that bell..." Duo suddenly realized something and quickly flipped through the pages of the script. "This can't be true..." Shaking his head and talking to himself at
the same time, Duo took another look at Heero again, hoping that it wasn't the same guy he had gotten into trouble with the
week before. "No... It can't be." Printed right into the script were many scenes which required Duo to act together with Heero.
That means there was no chances of Duo not running into him. It also meant that he had to face him again and risk dying while
rehearsing.

"Duo, you're next." Dorothy looked to Duo who was still playing around with the pages looking for a scene which didn't
require him to act with Heero.

Dorothy turned up the volume of the loudspeaker and lifted it to her mouth. A long deep breath... Almost immediately and at the exact same time, pairs of hands reached up to cover their ears, afraid of what was anticipated next. "DUO!!!!!!!!!" Dorothy shrieked into the speaker, bursting a few ear drums of the poor victims standing around her. The American boy suffered such a
shock that he flung the script out of his hands. It made a perfect aim for the star, landing smack whack into the face. The script
slided off Heero's face and dropped to the floor next to him. Heero could feel his blood boiling in him, his body temperature
rising to a dangerously high and scorching level. Red, all he saw was a dark, blood red.

"This is very, very, very, very, very bad." Duo could fell something boiling in him too, trouble that is. "Why do I have this feeling that my life's going to come to an end soon?" Scenes of his funeral floated into his mind. Vividly engraved on a tombstone were
'Duo Maxwell. Deceased on ...'  Duo snapped out of his private world of horror and returned to look at Heero. It was an even
greater horror.

Heero relaxed a little. He decided that it wasn't worth it to bash Duo up and end up in detention. Moreover, Treize was
around. It wouldn't be a good idea anyway. There was something else up his sleeve. He bent down to pick up the script and
walked over to Duo. "Here. Don't take it to heart. I know you didn't mean it." With a smirk, he strode away to his seat and
settled down.

"I'm alive!" Duo thought in his mind. "I'm still alive!"

"DUO!!!!!" There goes Dorothy again. "NEEXXXXT!!" The students stood a little further away from her. WuFei and Trowa watched with amusement at what had just happened. "In trouble again..."

Quatre shook his head. "That Duo is such a clown."

School, 3.30pm

Soaked in a body of sweat, Heero took slow steps into the school and to his locker. With the towel he had resting on his
shoulders, he wiped his face with his left hand while the right hand played around with the combination knob. Right to one,
left to five, right one full circle. Lastly... Heero clenched his fist and pounded the locker. The door swung open and he took
his bag out. Training had been tough today and Heero felt bushed. Before leaving the school, he made his way to the ground
level's restroom, intending to wash up first and cool down a little.

"Are you going to the washroom?" Zechs asked. "If you are, then I'll have to tell you they're locked up for washing. The ones
on the top floor can be used though."

Heero figured that he didn't want to go home yet and climbed up to the top floor. He turned into the washroom and headed for
the first sink that was nearest to the door. After cleaning himself up, he picked up his bag from the floor and walked to the
door. It was locked. Impossible, how can it be? The door didn't open even when Heero turned the knob again. He paused to
listen. From outside came familiar maniacal laughter. "OZ." Heero acknowledged.

"What's the matter? Someone can't get out?" Myuura taunted.

"Poor thing. Shall we help the pitiful boy inside?" Alex looked to the other two. They nodded. Together, they heaved a huge
cupboard to the front of the door, blocking up the exit.

Heero pushed the door from the inside. It didn't budge. He backed up and charged at it. The cupboard on the outside shook a little but the door didn't open. The three trouble makers were afraid that Heero might get out so they shifted another cupboard
in front of the first.

"There. This way he'll never be able to get out!" Trent declared.

The two cupboards shook even more. "This guy has the strength of a bull! How about another cupboard?" Panting, the other two shook their heads in disagreement.

"Forget it! I'm beat."

"Me too."

Just as they finished their last sentence, the second cupboard fell over on them.

From inside, Heero could hear their cursing and swearing about the stupid cupboard that landed on them. "Bingo." Heero
chuckled. He looked around for another way to get out, an alternate exit. The window caught his attention and he walked over and peered out before drawing his head back in. Following that, he stole up his bag, climbed onto the ledge of the window and jumped.

As he fell, he took off his bag in mid-air and threw it to the side before plunging into the pool. A drenched Heero climbed out of the pool, collected his bag at the side and made his way home, leaving trails and miniature pools of water behind as he went. On the way, he dried himself off with his towel. With a little help from the strong winds, his hair was dried up in no time. But...

Lightning streaked across the darkened sky. A bolt snaked down followed by a crack of thunder and curtains of rain showered down onto the already wet Heero. [ wet + rain = even wetter ]

"Shouldn't have bothered about the hair and bag in the first place."

Back home

"Caught in the rain?" Mrs Yuy asked her son as he treaded into the house with muddy shoeprints abandoned behind him, his sneakers squishing along as he ...er.. squished?

"Ah." came the dead response.

"Heero, take off your shoes before you go upstairs."

Obviously, he didn't listen. A shrill echoed from upstairs.

"Muummmmiiee!!!!!"

"Heero, stop disturbing your sister!"

Upstairs, Relena's room

"Heero, get out of my room! You're leaving mud all over the floor!" Relena tugged at her brother's tanktop. "Get out!! Why did you come in here?!"

"Your room's the only one that has a bathroom."

"Use the one outside!"

"Dad's using it."

"Use the one in the kitchen!"

"Mom's cooking."

"SO?!"

"She'll complain if I walk into the kitchen with my shoes on."

"Then what about me?! I'm complaining too, you know?!"

"You're whining."

"I don't care!! Just get out!!!!!!"

"It wouldn't hurt to just let me use it."

"Yes, it will!! Get out!!"

Heero ignored her, stepped over her bed and moved to the bathroom, slamming the door close behind him.

"MUUMMMMIIIIEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!"

[ Hey, Angel. I think you forgot something. < P ] [ what? < D ] [ You forgot to write about the doorknob falling off < P ] [ Oh ya, silly me < D ]

Something metallic fell to the floor.  [ Tada! < D ]

Bathroom

Soaking in a tub of warm water, Heero eased up and relaxed in his bath as the lights elucidated his face. Outside, Relena was still banging on the door, yelling for him to get his butt out of her bathroom. Unable to tolerate her racket, he held his breath and sank into the tub, hoping that it'll help to drown out a bit of the noise but sat up again when it didn't work. But he wasn't going to let her ruin his bath so he took his time to get out of the tub and to wrap a towel around his waist. His own reflection in the mirror set him thinking about what had happened in the washroom in school that afternoon.

"I will kill those three if I get my hands on them."

Still dressed only in a towel, he unbolted the door and opened it. Relena didn't waste any time at all in shoving him out of her room and closing the door shut once he was out. His mother was coming up the stairs when he walked off to his room.

"Heero! Get changed! You're going to catch a cold if you walk around the house like that!"

"No, I won't."

Once back into his room, Heero got out a clean tanktop and spandex from the drawers and dressed. Then came a knock on the door.

"Son. It's cold so don't wear your tanktop to sleep, ok? You'll fall sick if you do." Mrs Yuy was concerned about her stubborn son.

"No, I won't."

"By the way, come out for dinner once you've dressed."

"Ryoukai. (acknowledged)"

When she left, Heero turned to his table and switched on his laptop. Sitting down on a chair, he thought as he typed. "Like I'll get sick so easily... HA CHOO!"

Thursday morning, class 1-1

Heero sat in his seat feeling miserable and awfully sleepy. The room was swimming in and out of focus and his head felt as though it was spinning. He took a look at the board. "Blah choo!!"  and plopped his head down on the table. "Buei tahan... (Can't stand it.)"

Otto stopped teaching and asked, "Heero, are you okay?"

Heero sniffed. "Y- Ya... yaaaa choooo!" He sneezed so hard that he knocked his head on the table.

"I think you better go home and get some rest. I don't want you spreading germs around to the rest."

The sick boy nodded and picked up his bag.

Back home

"Eh? Back so early?" His mother asked, surprised to see him home two hours after he left for school.

"Half day." Heero replied, not wanting to admit that he did get sick and went up to his room.

"Stubborn as a mule."

2.15pm

Relena had came back from school and was teasing her brother who had a red nose and dark eye rings. "Heero the red nose badger, has a very shin- EEEEEEEE!!!!!!" She screamed and ran off when her not so amused brother grabbed the baseball bat.

"Heero, stop disturbing your sister!"

Heero locked himself in his room and laid on the bed to sleep, with the bat next to him just in case.
