Gundam Zero

By Saria Barton

Disclaimer: As usual I do not own Gundam Wing *not for lack of trying though J* it's owned by… whoever but all the random characters that don't exist in the regular storyline I do own. So there also I am not apologizing for any errors made in this story *my fingers hurt enough without having to go back and be a perfectionist got it* oh kay I think I scared you the innocent reader long enough so let our crazy *actually rather serious* story begin.

Note: This takes place right after the episode "Rejected by a home far away" and continues with it's own plotline with a few new characters and the elimination of some old and rather annoying characters * Such as Relena and Hilde which are hanging like hangmen at the moment (rubs hands together)* Sorry my subconscious and I seem to hate those two characters. * Laughs nervously* anno I think I should shut up now. Well finally on to the actual story.

A Meeting of Two Powers

Saria laid in her bed. It had been a long two days what with all the diplomacy and trying to put up with Lady Une's dual personalities not to mention the great menace the Gundam pilots had created. All of that and a lot of school work could very much exhaust a fifteen year old girl. Suddenly the communication terminal went off with its usual loud beep that could wake the dead and beyond. She groaned, "I guess sleep will have to wait," she said. She got out of bed and went to the terminal. "Yes" she said sleepily although she did try to cover it up. "Sorry to wake you Miss but we need you on the main deck," came the voice of the young yeoman. She sighed Lady Une must be at a meeting otherwise they would call her. "Sure on my way" She replied then switched off the terminal and went to her uniform. Slipping it on she thought about what they would drag her out of bed at three in the morning for. Getting up she finished buttoning the top of her uniform and grabbed a hairbrush she quickly began to de-kink her beyond straight black locks. Sometimes she wondered what she would look like with curls but she had her mother's hair. She smiled. Not to mention her emerald green eyes. She turned to her mirror and began to tie her hair back with a few stray locks down the side of her face.

When she had finished she strode calmly out the door and to the lift. She carefully observed the attitude of the crew. They all walked with panicky quickness that was common to one new comers and two dangerous situations and just by looking at the more seasoned officers she began to vote on the second suggestion. "What the heck is going on anyway?" She thought. She silently wondered what would cause all this confusion. She stepped into the lift and typed in the commands for the main deck and waited for it to activate. While she did she carefully narrowed down her ideas as to what was making the crew panic so much to three things: one an alliance rising with some actual weapons. She smiled the chances of that happening was slim to none. Two: a terrorist group making serious trouble but again the chances of that happening was also slim to none. The third option did not make her smile in fact it made her worry as well. A Gundam pilot. It's not the Gundam you have to worry about but the pilot was a different issue entirely. "As the saying goes it's the man that makes the weapon," she said. Carefully marveling that every saying seemed to have truth to it.
The lift stopped and the door opened. She quickly stepped out and began giving orders. "Report" she said to the yeoman that had woken her just moments before. "Lady Barton Gundam Zero-one has appeared to port of Barge but it is not attacking us in fact it's just sitting there," He said looking at her expectantly. "Fortunately," she thought "He won't be disappointed," She walked to the officer working with the scanners and began to address her. "Have you scanned it yet maybe it 's out of fuel?" she asked. The officer began to check her controls. "I guess not," she thought silently. The officer reported back "Lady Barton" she said snapping Saria from her thoughts. "Yes" she said annoyed that Oz soldiers seemed to run around like chickens with their heads chopped when there wasn't someone with power around. "It appears the Gundam is out of fuel ma`am," the officer said. Smirking Saria yelled to the entire Main deck "Who is in charge here," she said loudly getting the attention of everyone there. A well-seasoned Lieutenant stepped forward "I am" he said proudly obviously expecting praise. Boy was he wrong. Saria walked up to him thoughtfully stroking her chin. "Well I'm impressed," she said and the man began to grin. "That anyone could be so stupid," she added. All loud enough for the entire crew to hear. His grin faded quickly to be replaced with an uneasy look. Saria continued, "Tell me lieutenant why is the entire crew acting like chickens with their heads cut off," she said astutely "And why haven't you sent out any mobile dolls and suits to investigate this situation?" she asked smiling. Now the lieutenant in question seemed to think he had a reason to smile "Actually Lady Barton we were waiting for you," he said looking around to see his closest friends murmur in agreement while everyone else was going nuts over how this guy could lie to his superior. Saria held up her hand for silence "Well I honestly thought that someone that Lady Une said had great leadership capabilities would be able to do something so simple as to investigate an immobilized Gundam which has made no attack against us yet," she said watching him hang his head in defeat. "You will be relieved of any command duties you may have dismissed," She said and the young lieutenant walked to the lift and out of sight. "Now I want to send out a team of five mobile dolls and three mobile suits," she said and everyone began to work. She grinned, "If only they could act like this all the time," she thought walking to the communications terminal.

Heero Yuy was really having a bad day first: his Gundam was out of fuel second: he was right next to Fortress Barge and third: it seemed that Oz was finally getting its act together. He figured that out when they contacted him. "Gundam pilot this is your first and only chance to surrender either do so or prepare to be captured," said a young lieutenant colonel, "I repeat surrender or prepare to battle." Heero looked at her through the screen. "That's what you call a choice," he replied taking out his beam saber. "I see you made your choice anyway out," she said and the link was closed. "What was I supposed to do?" he thought out loud. "Go have a cup of tea or something," Suddenly he was attacked.

"Launch" was all Saria said once she had closed the link, but then again that was all that was needed. The crew began to scramble to their posts and doing whatever was necessary to their specific job. Turning to the main screen she watched as the handful of suits and dolls began to make the pilots life miserable it was receiving heavy damage and it was obvious that the pilot was not enjoying himself. "That should be about enough," She thought. "Capture that Gundam and the pilot," she said to the pilot of one of the active mobile suits. He didn't reply to her order just acted. The mobile dolls began circling the Gundam and shooting grapples at it effectively capturing it. "Bring him to the mobile suit bay," She said walking to the lift and out of sight.

As Heero was escorted from his Gundam he quickly calculated his chances of escape. He came to the conclusion that there were none and just cooperated with the soldiers. Suddenly the lift doors opened and the lieutenant colonel stepped out and walked towards them. When she reached them his guards immediately saluted her. But she waved them off and turned to him. They just stared at each other for a moment then the girl grabbed his chin turned his head and raised her hand. He winced waiting for the girl to strike him. But suddenly he felt a hand gingerly touching a long cut across his cheek. He looked at her and saw her smile kindly at him. She then turned to one of his guards "Get me a first-aid kit," she said. The man looked at her "But miss…" he replied shaking his head. "Now!" She said interrupting him. He walked off for a moment and returned with the first-aid kit. Grumbling he handed it to her. She quickly placed it on a table and opened it.
Saria grinned when she saw a small scalpel in the kit she quickly took it out and carefully sliced her own cheek open. She then turned to the guards. Picking up a particle accelerator she put it to the wound on her cheek seeing no reaction from the she activated it. The wound healed instantly not even leaving a scar. She handed the device to Heero. "You can heal your own wound if you like," she said. He nodded and activated the device. Pressing the device to his cheek the wound quickly disappeared as well. She smiled at him and then turned to the guards.

Heero watched as this girl sliced her own cheek. "What the hell is she doing," he thought. But soon her actions became clear. She was putting her own life at risk to see if the equipment had been sabotaged or not. It was unbelievable that someone would do that, but here she was testing it for him. After she had healed her wound she handed it to him and told him he could heal it himself if he wanted. All he could do was nod still speechless from her recent actions. He carefully took the device activated it and pressed it against his cheek the cut disappeared. She smiled at him then turned to the guards leaving Heero to look around for a moment. As he turned something was there besides the basic Leos. He looked at it more carefully and a cold chill went up his spine "A Gundam," he breathed and ran towards it.

Saria spun at the footfalls of Heero's feet so did the soldiers as well. They began to draw their guns intending to kill him but Saria realizing why he was running and held up her hand to stop them. "But Miss Barton he's trying to escape," one of the officers said as though trying to knock sense into her but she would have none of it. "Do you really think he would try to escape without any weapons besides there's no place for him to go?" she said simply but the officer lost his temper. "LADY BARTON!!" He screamed and lashed out and struck her hard. So hard she staggered backward.

Heero stopped dead in his tracks and when the officer screamed and turned just in time to see him strike the girl. Something seemed to ring in his mind. He started to run back to help the girl, but it was not necessary in a flash of metal the offending officer was pinned to the wall by two shruikens. Heero's mouth dropped he had never seen a girl so aggressive but what she did next shocked even the guard who was next to her. "YOU ARE OUT," she shrieked before striking him in the same manner he had struck her with. Then turning to the other guard she calmed herself before speaking "I want everyone out I'll take care of the prisoner myself, I don't need ten-thousand body guards," she said. The guard knowing she meant business immediately freed the ex-soldier and handed the shruikens to her then he signaled everyone to leave.

Once all the guards had gone Saria walked to the first-aid kit and quickly healed the mark on her cheek. When she had finished with that she walked over to Heero. "I'm sorry I lost my temper and all but that guy had it coming," she said Heero looked at her green eyes they were sincere "Sure no problem but can I ask you something," he said looking at her. "Sure shoot," she replied. "Who are you?" he asked. The girl smacked her forehead "I can't believe I haven't introduced myself yet" she said "I'm Saria Barton I believe you know my brother Trowa."
